I have to admit, an avocado smoothie just doesn't sound appealing to me, but I'm willing to try.Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09696639908669680181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1117096401177282941.post-27262416303607146962011-07-01T16:10:34.920-07:002011-07-01T16:10:34.920-07:00@Annie- yay! I hope you like it as much as I do (I...@Annie- yay! I hope you like it as much as I do (I think you will!) I guess I didn't realize you liked avocados so much! And I will look in to the fat free dairy issue. What you're saying makes sense to me for sure. All this stuff is yummy, but I'm pretty sure the yummiest healthy thing in the world wouldn't beat grandma's fried chicken & cheese biscuits :)

@noceleryplease, whom I assume is Rachelle, now that the maker of tiny donuts has arrived don't think I won't be trying that concoction!Meganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13866571362715514008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1117096401177282941.post-45755083933258547782011-07-01T06:16:26.816-07:002011-07-01T06:16:26.816-07:00I understand these things taste good... but to me...I understand these things taste good... but to me, if I'm not chewing it... it isn't food ;)

How about some avocado salsa tiny donuts?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1117096401177282941.post-9930341123828777712011-06-30T20:14:14.103-07:002011-06-30T20:14:14.103-07:00Avocados are one of my favorite foods of all time ...Avocados are one of my favorite foods of all time ever! I've never thought to put one in a smoothie, but it makes perfect sense. And since I am not a fan of bananas (which seem to be in every single store bought smoothie ever because of its consistency) it seems like the perfect solution for me to get that delectable texture!

I'm wondering though - I tend to shy away from fat free dairy products, particularly something like flavored yogurt. What I've been reading lately is that sugar makes you fat way faster than fat makes you fat. Literally nonsensical, but true. I've started paying closer attention to the sugar content in the yogurt that I buy, because antyhing "fat free" tends to replace with sugar (and vice versa - "sugar free" tends to overcompensate in other not so great areas for the lost flavor). It might be worth exploring.

Also - YAY for your local produce soap box! I couldn't agree more. I've been reading a ton about all of the environmental and health benefits of local, but the taste benefit was driven home when I got some local greens. OH. MY. GOD. I have never in my life genuinely enjoyed eating salad greens before I had these incredible mixed greens. I could have almost eaten them like chips. (Almost. Let's be serious) It makes eating fruits and veggies so much more of a pleasure than it's ever been...I suffer from the same fruit affliction you do, despite my best intentions and despite knowing better.

This was a really long comment, but I am so in love with this blog and I can't wait for the next entry...god knows I know where you're coming from! Despite my newfound passion for healthy and organic food, nothing quite satisfies like the horribly unhealthy food of our youth!YoginiAnniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08111799853318743006noreply@blogger.com
